The Super Eagles were earlier today held to a goalless draw by a much-improved Rwandan side in a 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) first round qualifier held at the Stade de Kigali.
The hosts were all over the Nigerians during the closing stages of the game but the Stephen Keshi-tutored boys held on to share the spoils at the blast of the final whistle.
Nigeria is now the overwhelming favourite to win the return leg which will be played here in June.
In the other AFCON qualifiers played on Wednesday, Madagascar and Seychelles crashed at home 4-0 to Cape Verde and DR Congo respectively.
Kenya kept their 2013 AFCON hopes alive beating visiting Togo 2-1 in Nairobi; Burundi grabbed a late winner over Zimbabwe on home soil. The match ended 2-1.
Host Tanzania were forced to a 1-1 draw by Mozambique while Niger claimed a 3-2 victory against Malawi in N’Djamena.
In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia could not find the net as visiting Benin Republic went home went with a goalless draw.
